  • Do you service both commercial and residential drains?

Yes, our plumbers are trained and equipped to resolve issues with both types of drainage systems, including:

Neighborhood storm drains, Residential floor drains, Commercial floor drains, Leader drains, Sewer ejector pumps, Sump pumps, Basement pumping, Underground leaks and repairs

  • Are all of your drain and sewer line repairs trenchless?

Replacing or repairing a pipe without digging a trench is always our first option. However, that isn’t always possible or ideal; in those cases, we’ll explain to you that we need to dig a trench to reliably resolve the problem and get your approval before continuing.

  • How do I know if my main sewer line is clogged?

When your main sewer line is clogged, it usually affects multiple drains in and around your home, especially the ones on the ground floor. These are some common signs to look out for:

You notice multiple drains running slowly

You smell unpleasant odours coming from several drains

You see water backing up from one drain into another (e.g. flushing the toilet causes water to rise in the bathtub drain)

  • What causes backflow of sewage?

There are two main causes: blockages and sewer surcharging. If an object gets stuck in a drain or sewer line, it can prevent proper flow. Eventually, that can lead to a complete blockage, causing any new flow to build up and – eventually – back up. In the case of surcharging, it means that the standard flow in the line has been reversed. This often happens during flooding or heavy rains, as sewer lines can’t handle the extra volume and begin backing up into homes and businesses.

  • My shower drain is clogged. Is this something you can help with?

Yes. If you have a clogged shower drain, sink drain, or toilet, don’t panic, Radko Mechanical can help. Give our team a call, and we’ll send out a plumber with the right tools and experience to unclog the drain and return your bathroom to full use. Our drain cleaning service is convenient and much more effective than home DIY methods. In most cases, our team clears clogs without the need for corrosive drain cleaners.

  • Can’t I clear this clogged drain myself?

Some clogs are too tough for the average household plunger. We also strongly recommend against using store bought drain cleaners: these corrosive acids are typically not good for your pipes. For the worst clogs that just won’t let up, you need to bring in a plumber. Our team has specialized tools that we use to remove stubborn blockages and completely clear the line.

  • What does it mean if all my drains are clogging at once?

You need to turn off the water immediately and call us. Multiple drains clogging all at the same time is typically the first indicator of a blocked or clogged sewer line. Adding more water could lead to a sewer backup where sewage comes up through your drains. This is a serious issue and requires the intervention of an experienced professional plumber.

  • What do your plumbers use to clean drains?

Our plumbers carry a number of tools specifically designed for drain cleaning and clearing out clogs. First, they’ll use snake tools and augers that are fed into the line and then “push” or tear through the blockage, removing the clog. In some cases, we might use a high-pressure water jet to blast out the clog and remove any remnants. Typically, we avoid (and you should, too!) the use of highly acidic and corrosive chemical drain cleaners.

  • Is it safe to use chemical drain cleaners?

Chemical drain cleaners can be effective for minor clogs, but they can also damage pipes and pose health risks if used improperly. It’s generally best to avoid them and seek professional assistance for stubborn clogs.

  • How long does drain repair take?

The duration of drain repair depends on the severity of the clog and the method used for clearing it. Simple clogs may be resolved quickly, while more complex issues may take longer to address.

  • Are there eco-friendly options for clearing clogged drains?

Yes, eco-friendly drain cleaning methods such as hydro-jetting use high-pressure water to clear clogs without the use of harsh chemicals. These methods are effective, safe for the environment, and suitable for various types of plumbing systems.
